The Solent Softball League recently held its Annual General Meeting for 2026, where new committee members were appointed to help lead the league forward. The AGM provided an opportunity for members to come together and discuss the future of the league, as well as elect individuals to key positions within the committee. The new committee members are excited to bring fresh ideas and perspectives to the table, and are dedicated to making the upcoming season a success for all players.
The league wishes exiting chair Matt Tebb all the best in his future endeavours after many years of heading up the SSL. He departs the region and we are certain we will see him again at tournaments around the country either as opposition, or making the calls as an umpire. Izzi Najera takes up the chair role, becoming the first lady to take the position after 30 years of Solent Softball.
Izzy Najera - incoming Chair
Judy Anderson rejoins the committee as secretary, and Scott Summers has moved into Andy Burgess' role as recruitment. Beefy leaves the committee after over a decade (at least) of service and he will retain an unofficial role to help the newer members. Joining your committee this year are Jo Willis (Welfare) and Mary Schofield (Fixtures). Dan Gonsalves (Treasurer), Jaane Rowehl (Tournaments) and Jason Mercer (UiC) continue their roles.

The rules for ringers also changed for the 2026 season, with teams only allowed 5 ringers for the season before points penalties are applied. You can read the full AGM minutes here.
